The video of my presentation at the International Symposium on Online Journalism at UT Austin in April 2011 is now available. The paper I presented draws on the research for our Participatory Journalism book. In the presentation, I suggest that journalists view audiences as “active recipients”, somewhere between passive receivers and active creators of content.

One of my first TV pieces was aired in 1990 on an exhibition of Bauhaus photography for BBC Look North when I was a news trainee at the BBC. It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years since this report was broadcast.
